Audi Q4 e-tron: The electric bestseller gets an upgrade
Audi has revealed an extensively upgraded Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron, bringing bidirectional charging, more efficient drivetrains, longer range, faster DC charging, a redesigned interior, and second-generation digital OLED rear lights to the brand's electric bestseller.
The Audi Q4 e-tron is the brand’s best-selling all-electric model, and Audi is now giving the compact SUV its most comprehensive update yet. The new Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron offer more range, faster charging, a more efficient drivetrain, and a redesigned digital interior. For the first time in an Audi, bidirectional charging is also on board, allowing the car to power external devices and even a home.
“The Audi Q4 e-tron is not only more modern and striking in appearance but also impresses with an improved interior,” says Marco Schubert, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. The upgrade is targeted at families and fleet customers looking for an attractive and well-rounded electric vehicle.
Bidirectional charging debuts at Audi
The facelifted Q4 e-tron is the first Audi to support bidirectional charging. With Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), customers can power e-bikes, camping gear, or electric tools directly from the car. A socket in the trunk delivers up to 2.3 kW at 230 V, while an optional adapter for the charging port enables 2.3 to 3.6 kW of output.
In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality lets the Q4 e-tron act as a stationary home battery, optimizing the use of self-generated solar power. Plug & Charge is now standard, automatically authorizing the car at compatible charging stations as soon as the cable is connected.
More range and faster charging
A newly developed APP350 electric motor with silicon carbide semiconductors lifts overall efficiency by approximately 10 percent. The rear-wheel-drive base model gains around 30 km of range, while quattro variants pick up between 16 and 32 km. A new low-viscosity transmission fluid adds up to 12 km of range in cold weather. The longest-legged variant, the Q4 Sportback e-tron performance, now covers up to 592 km on a single charge (WLTP).
DC charging power on quattro performance models has been raised from 175 kW to 185 kW. The 10 to 80 percent charge takes around 27 minutes, and selected variants can recover up to 185 km of range in just ten minutes.
New drive system and battery line-up
Customers can choose between four drive configurations and two battery sizes:
- Rear-wheel-drive base: 150 kW, 350 Nm
- Rear-wheel-drive performance: 210 kW, 545 Nm
- Quattro: 220 kW (rear 350 Nm, front 134 Nm)
- Quattro performance: 250 kW (rear 545 Nm, front 134 Nm)
The two battery options offer 63 kWh gross (59 kWh net) and 82 kWh gross (77 kWh net). Trailer load on quattro models has been raised by 400 kg to 1,800 kg, with a 75 kg nose weight.
Sharper exterior with digital OLED rear lights
Outside, the Q4 e-tron adopts a body-color Singleframe grille, a roof-edge spoiler, a floating roof accent, a redesigned diffuser, and a contoured rear spoiler. Three new colors and five new wheel designs round out the visual update.
Lighting is a standout feature. Digital LED daytime running lights now offer selectable signatures, while the second-generation digital OLED rear lights use 284 segments distributed across six panels. Drivers can choose from four customizable digital light signatures, and an optional proximity detection function warns following vehicles when they get too close.
Redesigned digital interior
Inside, a new digital stage takes center stage with an 11.9-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch MMI touchscreen. An optional 12-inch passenger display, the largest in the segment, lets the front passenger stream video or assist with navigation. An augmented reality head-up display is also available.
A wide softwrap spans the full width of the dashboard, and the new center console adds two cooled inductive charging trays at 15 W each. Four USB-C ports come as standard, with two more available as an option. ChatGPT is integrated into the intelligent Audi assistant, enabling natural-language interaction with the car.
Cargo space remains practical at 515 liters, expanding to 1,487 liters with the rear seats folded, supplemented by around 25 liters of distributed storage throughout the cabin.
Driver assistance
Standard driver assistance includes parking system plus with distance display, cruise control with speed limiter, lane departure warning with emergency assist, traffic sign recognition, attention and fatigue monitoring, and active front assist with evasion capability. Optional systems add the adaptive driving assistant plus with highway lane change assist above 90 km/h, trained parking and reverse assist, and park assist plus with surround-view cameras.
Pricing and market launch
In Germany, the new Q4 e-tron starts at €47,500 for the 63 kWh SUV and €53,500 for the 82 kWh SUV. The Sportback commands a €1,950 premium, opening at €49,450 and €55,450 respectively. Orders open across Europe in May 2026, with first deliveries scheduled for summer 2026.
