Audi E5 Sportback drivetrain
The Audi E5 Sportback is built on a purpose-built EV platform co-developed with SAIC, featuring adaptive air suspension on all variants and up to 579 kW in all-wheel drive configuration.
The Audi E5 Sportback is built on a purpose-built electric platform co-developed by Audi and SAIC, optimized for performance, efficiency, and ultra-fast charging. Unlike global Audi e-tron models on MLB Evo, this platform is developed specifically for the Chinese market and digital ecosystem.
Electric motors
Two drivetrain configurations are available across the four variants:
Single-motor rear-wheel drive (Pioneer, Pioneer Plus):
- Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) on rear axle
- Pioneer: 220 kW (299 hp), 420 Nm
- Pioneer Plus: 300 kW (408 hp), 500 Nm
- Top speed: 205 km/h
Dual-motor quattro all-wheel drive (Pioneer quattro, quattro):
- PMSM on each axle
- Pioneer quattro: 386 kW (525 hp) combined, 725 Nm
- quattro: 579 kW (787 hp) combined, 800 Nm
- Top speed: 205 km/h (Pioneer quattro) / 230 km/h (quattro)

Suspension
All variants are fitted with adaptive air suspension as standard — a full air-spring setup across both axles:
- Front: Double wishbone with electronically controlled adaptive dampers and air springs
- Rear: Multi-link with electronically controlled adaptive dampers and air springs
Ride height and damping stiffness adjust automatically based on vehicle speed and selected drive mode. The system is tuned for smooth urban driving while maintaining stability at higher speeds.
Steering
The E5 Sportback features progressive steering, where the ratio adjusts continuously based on speed: more direct at low speed for manoeuvrability and more stable at highway speeds. No rear-wheel steering is available on this model.
Brakes
- Cast-iron disc brakes (front and rear)
- Regenerative braking with three modes:
- Automatic (adjusts to traffic)
- Manual (driver-selected intensity)
- One-pedal driving (Hold or Roll selectable)
Drive modes
RWD variants (Pioneer, Pioneer Plus): 4 modes — Sport, Economy, Standard, Custom
AWD variants (Pioneer quattro, quattro): 5 modes — Dynamic, Efficiency, Balanced, Individual, Comfort
