Convenience opening windows

This feature comes with the Comfort Key option. It allows you to press and hold the unlock button on your car key to open all four windows. The windows will stop opening as soon as you release the button. If you hold it long enough, all windows will roll down completely.

Similarly, you can also press and hold the lock button to close the windows in the same manner.

While this is a practical feature, it can be a bit risky if your car key gets squeezed in a bag or otherwise pressed by accident—especially if the car is parked outside a cabin in heavy rain or wind. Coming out to a car filled with water or snow the next morning is a miserable experience.

Fortunately, there is an easy way to avoid this. You can disable this feature in the MMI. Unfortunately, it is turned on by default, so this is something most people should change right away.

Here is how you do it:

• Select Vehicle in the main menu

  

• Select Settings & Service, Central Locking

  

• Turn off the ‘Convenience opening windows’ feature

  

• There you go, hopefully you will avoid this type of surprise in the future
