J1 performance platform
The J1 performance platform is the 800-volt electric sports-car architecture used by the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan.
The J1 performance platform is an electric sports-car architecture developed within Volkswagen Group and shared by the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. It combines an 800-volt electrical system, a low battery installation and dual-motor all-wheel drive.

Current Audi e-tron GT family
The original Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT premiered in 2021. Audi substantially updated the model family in 2024 and added a new entry version in 2025. The current family comprises:
- Audi e-tron GT quattro;
- Audi S e-tron GT;
- Audi RS e-tron GT; and
- Audi RS e-tron GT performance.
All use a high-voltage battery with 105 kWh gross and 97 kWh usable capacity. Maximum DC charging power is 320 kW, and Audi specifies approximately 18 minutes from 10 to 80 percent under ideal conditions. Range and output depend on the version; the e-tron GT quattro reaches up to 622 km WLTP, while the RS e-tron GT performance is the highest-output version.
Drivetrain layout
J1 uses an electric motor on each axle for quattro all-wheel drive. A two-speed transmission on the rear axle combines strong initial acceleration with efficient high-speed driving. Drive control continuously distributes torque between the axles according to traction, efficiency and the selected drive mode.

Battery installation
The battery sits in the underbody between the axles. Recesses in the rear footwell create space for occupants’ feet despite the car’s low roofline. This layout contributes to a low center of gravity while preserving four-seat comfort.

Audi e-tron GT battery installation
The platform supports chassis systems including adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering and, in the updated e-tron GT family, optional active suspension. Exact equipment depends on the model and configuration.
